PLANT PEOPLE

The Black Fly team has been hard at work this field season! Our team has grown and we are taking on new and exciting challenges doing what we do best.

A large part of our field season has been focused on rare plant surveys in Northern Saskatchewan; check out the super awesome plant pics on Instagram! The terrain was difficult (beavers don't care about your plans) and the ARGOs were put to the test. They are strong, capable machines but a few of us learned a lot about small motor mechanics and how to limp yourself out of the woods. Let's call it character building.

Mechanical woes aside, we had a great time. We were fortunate to work with some outstanding taxonomists and explored the vast boreal landscape of the north looking for rare species (literally, needle in a haystack). This was challenging and rewarding work, we are so grateful to have supported the project and the amazing project team.
